Emily Carter Delamater
Art Moves Dance Company
Emily Carter Delamater started taking dance classes at the Art Moves Dance studio at age 14. She fell in love with dance immediately and very quickly began to study dance and creative movement intensively. She studied jazz, modern, samba, and technique and took up any opportunity to learn all styles of movement.
She was inducted into the Art Moves Dance Troupe at age 17, with whom she performed in many venues throughout Maine, Including the Vagina Monologues at Merrill Auditorium, and Portland Dances. She has also taught dance for 6 years for the Art Moves residency program, in many different elementary schools throughout western Maine.
After Moving to Boston and not dancing for a year, she realized just how important dance was as a constant element in her life. She moved back to Maine to pursue her degree in Fine Art Photography and soon began dancing with the Art Moves dance Company in 2004.
This reentrance into the dance world was an extremely powerful and meaningful occurrence for her. She has performed in the Maine festival, Portland dances, University of Maine at Presque Isle, and choreographed for Dance USM for two years.
She is grateful to be working with such an incredible group of people and to be able to perform and choreograph work that she feels deeply proud to be a part of.
