Art Moves Dance Group is an entity of diverse teen dancers who are dedicated to each other, their community, and the Art Moves Dance Project. We are teens who promote self expression through artistic movement and confidence in one’s body. Our goal is to provide accessible dance to a broader audience and be role models to others around us. We work together to reach these goals, and learn from each other’s styles and experiences. To us, the Art Moves Dance Group provides a fun, judgement-free atmosphere where we can be ourselves and dance- because we want to. The teen troupe has it's roots in a patriotic show called Energize U.S. performed at military bases and as an AFS benefit at Oxford Hills. It became the teen troupe Energize US! in San Francisco with its members from several Bay area schools, winning grants, awards and a letter of commendation from then Mayor Dianne Feinstein. Upon Debi's return to Maine, the teens became Energize US! East, then the Dance Inside Out Group, and now the Art Moves Dance Group. The women and men from these troupes have become dancers and doctors, mothers and managers. All of them are remarkable and unique individuals, truly making the world a better place with their creative approaches to life. "Troupe" alumni are a positive and passionate people. We are available to teach and perform at your school or event; see Art Moves into the Schools, or contact artmoves@megalink.net |
